PUBLIC NOTICE

INITIAL NOTICE OF SALE OF REAL PROPERTY

Pursuant to G.S. 115C-518 and 160A-269, the Beaufort County Board of Education hereby gives notice that it is making available for purchase the real property located at 910 Tarboro Street, Washington, NC 27889, commonly known as the campus of John C. Tayloe Elementary School. The property is believed to consist of one parcel totaling 19.8 acres of land, including all buildings and parking lots. A more detailed property listing can be obtained by visiting the Beaufort County Schools website, www.beaufort.k12.nc.us or by contacting Jamie Stokes, Director of Maintenance, at 252-940-6614 or jstokes@beaufort.k12.nc.us. The property is being sold “AS IS” with no representation from the Beaufort County Schools regarding the acreage or condition of the property. The purchaser will be responsible for the cost of deed preparation, revenue stamps and all closing costs. Notice is hereby given that prior to November 18, 2026, any person may submit a bid to purchase the property. The highest bid will become the opening offer in the statutory upset bid process. The high bidder shall deposit five percent of the total bid in cash or certified funds with the Beaufort County Schools. The Beaufort County Schools shall then advertise the offer for possible upset bid in accordance with statute. The upset bid procedure shall be repeated until no further qualifying upset bids are received, at which time the Board may accept the offer and sell the property to the highest bidder. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all offers at any time.
